The Amazingness of 9/21/2010

So, this week was a pretty great music week for anyone. There were 3 major releases for me this week and it's been a while since i've been excited about a full album being released! I will now share with you the magic of last weeks releases!

Maroon 5 - Hands All Over
An amazing new album from Maroon 5. Not only are
their first two singles amazing, but so are many other
songs on the album including "Stutter" and "Never
Gonna Leave This Bed"! I have been anticipating this
album for quite some time!

Selena Gomez - A Year Without Rain
Although her first two singles from this album were deliciously dance-worthy and exciting, the album was a bit of a letdown. They released the correct singles to get her album sales up but they didn't impress much with the album. I do enjoy "Off The Chain", "Intuition", and "Spotlight"! If you listen carefully you can hear a lot of Ashley Tisdale-esque music on the album, and that's because her writers worked with Selena for this album. Interesting fact!

Shontelle - No Gravity
I wasn't really looking forward to this album as much as I was the other two, but this purchase is one of the greatest that I have made in a long time. I love almost every song on the album. My favorites are "Take Ova", "Helpless", and "Perfect Nightmare". She has grown a lot since her first album Shontelligence (which I did not purchase because it seemed to be all over the place). But I am happy that she got herself together and put out a great Dance album. Hopefully it will get the exposure it deserves!

There has to be more coming up! Check back! Until then.... Eat It Up!

VMAs

Soooo.... I don't know who watched the VMAs but they were pretty lame this year. But anyways, some music that i'm loving at the moment is

Shakira - Loca
I am really loving Shakira in spanish. I enjoy when she does what she does best and doesn't try to translate her lyrics from spanish to english. It's sexy, sassy, and has a great latin beat to it. I thoroughly enjoy!

Chris Brown - Dueces
I do not know how Chris always manages to make such amazing songs (and I always feel bad for enjoying them) but he always does so well! This song is addicting from the beginning and I cannot stop listening to it! His voice is amazing.

Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite
I am not just speaking about the song in this instance. This album is a legitimate statement that Kylie is not going anywhere anytime soon. I was not in the slightest a Kylie fan before this album, but I have now converted and am in love with where I have come to! The album is pure infectious pop and I think this album is wayyyyyyyyyyy under-promoted and has the potential to be a historic hit.

That's all I have for now peeps. Eat it up!

Back In Action!

It's been a bit since I last posted because I have gotten wrapped up in my summer job and with school starting up again but I have much music to share and a lot of stuff for you to Eat Up! Get ready...

UPDATE!
Songs of The Moment!
Rihanna - Only Girl In The World
An amazing step back to her more dance-friendly and happy sound. Although her Rated R stint was quite enjoyable it's nice to hear Rihanna not seeming so hardcore and letting her fun side flaunt freely!
(Rihanna's new album "LOUD" will be on shelves this November)

Selena Gomez & The Scene - A Year Without Rain
Selena Gomez has really shocked me with her extremely dance and radio friendly singles. I was very skeptical of her in the beginning but then blindly heard "Naturally" and fell in love. Then this summer I was exposed to "Round and Round" which somehow has only managed to peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at #24. That song is a hit! Now she is releasing the 2nd single from her new album (of the same name) which I feel has a lot of potential, but is unfortunately not as catchy as the songs that preceded. Still a definite play on my iPod!

Katy Perry - Peacock/Firework/Circle The Drain
Too be completely honest, I am overwhelmed at how amazingly Katy Perry's sophomore album has proved that she is not going anywhere anytime soon. I can listen to the whole album start to finish without a twinge of regret! The standout tracks (already counting the prior singles) are Peacock, Firework (3rd single from the album), and Circle The Drain. Peacock is ridiculously catchy fun that has an obvious innuendo that is a complete guilty pleasure. Firework shows off another very mainstream and skillful song selection for her 2nd album. It is a surefire hit single. Circle the Drain was released as a promo for the album and caught my attention immediately! I love how hardcore she sounds on the track and believe that it also has great potential to be a single. Overall I feel that I owe a nice little hand clap to Katy for a job well done on this amazing sophomore album.

This is all that I have time for at the moment but you bet I will have some fresh new goodies for you to taste soon! Until then... EAT IT UP!
